Valentin Heid and microSYST have a reason to be happy: the trainee's final exams were very successful, including special recognition from the government of the Upper Palatinate for his excellent results at vocational school. And microSYST? Not only as a trainer, but also as a future employer: Valentin Heid is transferring seamlessly to the sales department - his favourite department since starting his apprenticeship. He can also utilise his training as a foreign language correspondent there.
Valentin, how and why did you end up at microSYST for your apprenticeship?
I initially completed a school-based apprenticeship as a foreign language and euro correspondent and was looking for a practical apprenticeship. Preferably as an office management assistant. microSYST is a regional company that nevertheless operates internationally. And then it just seemed to fit ...
Reliable and calm even in stressful situations, open-minded, always in a good mood and friendly - that's how your trainers and colleagues got to know you. How did you experience your apprenticeship at microSYST?
Very open and varied. Over the course of three years, I worked in practically every commercial department, including sales/marketing, warehouse, purchasing, administration/assistance to the management, accounts receivable and accounts payable, deliveries and exports. What I particularly liked: I was allowed to be a valued team member right from the start - at least that's how I experienced it. So, it wasn't just photocopying or making coffee. This integration, including working independently and taking responsibility for smaller tasks, will certainly help me in my future career.
And what does that look like for you?
I'm transferring seamlessly to the sales team. I can also use my apprenticeship as a foreign language correspondent there. Sales has been my absolute favourite department since I started my apprenticeship - it's great that microSYST was able to take this into account. For me, it's now a matter of building up the knowledge I still lack in technical sales so that I can then provide support in international business in particular.
