Girls go for technology: Girls'Day at microSYST

Every year, Girls' Day provides schoolgirls all over Germany with guidance in precisely those occupational fields that have so far tended to have a low percentage of female employees - such as IT, crafts or technology. And it was these three fields that five schoolgirls got a look into on Girls' Day on 28 April at microSYST. The job specification behind it: Electronics technician for devices and systems.

After a short introduction and a tour of the company building, the girls were fully immersed in the world of LED technology at microSYST. In the production department, they not only gained an insight at various stations, but were also allowed to get hands-on: from the preparatory work in the warehouse to soldering, wiring and screwing. Craftsmanship and technical comprehension were in demand in the afternoon: an interchangeable flasher was waiting to be assembled by the students. A final knowledge "test" collected the impressions of the day.
