microSYST visualises PV data for hot-dip galvanising company WIEGEL
Advantages at a glance
More and more companies are focusing on renewable energies – but how can this commitment be communicated to the outside world? WIEGEL GmbH, Europe's leading service provider in the hot-dip galvanising industry, relies on the most modern technology to visualise its sustainability strategy: a custom-developed LED display from microSYST receives the performance data from the company's own photovoltaic system and visualises it in real time. Large-format and visible from far away, green energy thus becomes a striking signal in the company's public image.
The technology
The visualisation is based on data from the photovoltaic system itself. This data is transmitted to the display system via a serial RS485 interface. A built-in microcontroller then processes the information and displays it in real time. This ensures that current performance values are displayed reliably and without delay.
The components used
The core of the solution is the miline outdoor display system, which was developed specifically for outdoor use. With dimensions of approximately 574 x 306 millimeters, it offers a generous display area. The character height can be flexibly varied between 50 and 200 millimeters, ensuring optimal readability – even from a distance of up to 80 meters. The multicolor display with up to seven luminous colors ensures visual variety, while the bright, high-contrast LEDs guarantee clear visibility even in difficult lighting conditions. A sensor automatically adjusts the brightness to the surrounding conditions. The display was mounted using sturdy angle brackets, which enable secure and durable attachment to the wall.
The display is framed by a banner with text that the customer designed and mounted themselves.
The services provided by microSYST
microSYST handled the entire implementation of this project from a single source. This included individual consulting, the provision and adaptation of hardware, and the development of suitable software with implementation of the system telegrams in the display control system. This provided the customer with a solution that was precisely tailored to their needs.
The added value for the customer
“The new LED display allows us to visualise our sustainable energy production for the public. Thanks to its size, brightness, technical connectivity, and reliable service from microSYST, we received a comprehensive package that impressed us. The project impressively demonstrates how modern display technology from microSYST makes sustainability visible – and literally lets it shine,” said the customer.
